Pennsylvania State Rep. to Introduce Online Poker Law

Pennsylvania State Rep. Tina Davis has announced plans to introduce an online gaming bill that would legalize online poker, to be played for money, in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  The bill would legalize poker, and possibly other casino games, to be played online by individuals physically present in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  As such, the bill echoes similar provisions passed in Nevada and Delaware, and proposed in New Jersey, Mississippi and Iowa.

This bill must still pass both the Pennsylvania House and Senate, and finally be signed into law by Governor Tom Corbett, before it would take effect.  While still in the early stages, Pennsylvania could be motivated to pass this bill with some sense of urgency if neighboring New Jersey moves ahead with a bill that is currently before New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.

The legislative process in Pennsylvania will be worth monitoring by all gaming attorneys, as well as those interested in Internet poker law in general.
