New Jersey Online Gaming Will Go Live on November 26th

pa-sweep-onlineFollowing the passage of a law that legalized online casino games within the State of New Jersey, New Jersey online gaming regulators have sent letters to casino operators announcing that sanctioned online gaming may commence on November 26, 2013 at 9 A.M. EST.

New Jersey Online Gaming Rules and Regulations

As many of you are aware, earlier this year, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie signed an online gaming bill into law which, among other things, allows licensed service providers to operate online gaming websites so long as they are New Jersey State brick and mortar casino companies located in Atlantic City (although online gaming companies can partner up with land-based casinos), and players must be physically present in the State of New Jersey in order to be eligible to play.  It is expected that, at launch, up to 12 New Jersey brick and mortar casinos will offer Internet gaming in partnership with online gaming companies.

In an effort to avoid some of the technical glitches and game-play issues that have, thus far, hampered Nevada’s first online poker site, New Jersey’s Division of Gaming Enforcement is requiring online casino operators to complete a five day “soft play” period, prior to the November 26th go-live date.

While the regulations applicable to the marketing and operation of online gaming sites are complex and nuanced, with the proper planning and knowledgeable legal guidance, these games can be exceedingly profitable ventures.  If you are interested in learning more about this topic or pursuing a venture in this area, please e-mail us at info@kleinmoynihan.com, or call us at: (212) 246-0900.
